Setting up a Replacement Modem |

Step 1

After your new modem hardware is installed start your computer.

Click Start >> Settings >> Control Panel and left click on Control Panel.

Double Click modems icon and select your old modem in the list. Click Properties, and write down the COM port and number (i.e. COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4) This will help you setup your new modem hardware. Then Click the OK button on the bottom of the window to close the Properties Screen.

With your old modem still selected, click the Remove button to delete your old modem settings.

Click the Add... button and then click Next >

Step 6

Follow the instructions provided with your modem to ensure the correct setup of your modem hardware.

After the new modem is installed, close all of the windows you have open so you are back at your main Desktop screen. Restart your computer.

Once restarted, Double click the My Computer icon.

Step 9

Find and Double click the Dial-up Networking icon. Inside this folder you should see a 99main icon.

Step 10

Right mouse button click on the icon once. Move your cursor over Properties and then left mouse button click on Properties.

Step 11
|
Windows will tell you that it cannot find the specified modem. Click the OK button. You should see the 99main Dial-up properties

Step 12

There will be a box on the lower half of the properties box labeled Connect Using. Inside the drop down box will have your old modem hardware listed. Simply Left mouse button click on your old Modem hardware and select your new modem from the list. Then Click the OK button.
