Setting up Internet Explorer 3.0 in Windows 95

Step 1

When starting the Connection Wizard you should see a screen similar to the one below. Click Next> to begin setup.

Step 2

Select the option labeled Manual.

Step 3

Another Welcome screen, Click Next> to continue.

Step 4

Select the option Connect using my Phone Line. Click Next> to continue to the next step.

Step 5

Select Yes to the question "Do you want to use Windows Messaging to Send and Internet mail?"

Step 6

If you don't have all the files needed to use the internet Windows may ask you for your Windows 95 CD-ROM which came with your computer.

Step 7

This screen will ask you the name of your Internet Service Provider. In the box provided type in 99main as shown below.

Step 8

You will need a dial-up access number in order to fill out the next portion of the setup please choose an access number that is closest to you.

Step 9

In this box you will need to verify your Area Code and also enter the access number you selected for your area. Once you are finished click the Next> button.

Step 10

In this box you will need to put in your User/Login name and password in the corresponding boxes. For example, if your E-mail address is bob@99main.com then your User/Login name would be bob.Your password is the same that you chose when you first signed up with 99main.It is important that both your user name and password are in lower case letters and that there are no spaces contained in them.

Step 11

99main automatically assigns you an IP address when you connect to us. Make sure My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one is selected. Click Next> to continue.

Step 12

DNS servers are important for a web browser. DNS enables a web browser to find internet sites in a specify place even though there are millions of computers online. The DNS server is 208.28.184.15 the Alternate DNS is 208.28.184.16 you can see how it is entered in the example below.

Step 13

On this screen it will ask to enter your full E-mail address and server name. This is your Login name with an @99main.com on the end (i.e.: bob@99main.com). It is also important that your entire address is in lower case and contains no spaces. The mail server name is mail.99main.com

Step 14

Congratulations! you're done! Complete the setup by clicking the Finish button.
